Munich shooting: David S identified as gunman behind mall rampage

Police have identified the gunman who killed 9 people in a shooting at a shopping centre in Munich as David S. Local media have named the attacker as 18-year-old Ali David Sonboly, who has both German and Iranian citizenship. He appeared to have shot himself around 1 kilometre from the scene of the attack at the Olympia shopping centre.

Peter Beck, a Munich police spokesman, said officers were still collecting evidence at the scene of the crime Saturday morning. "With regard to the suspect we have to examine everything, but we don't know yet what triggered the crime," Beck said.
