The Munich Police has asked people not to post photos or video of police operation against the shooting at a city shopping centre.

As the attackers are still at large, the cops don't want them to get details of police response.

'Don't support the attackers!',the Munich police tweeted.

The BBC reported that taxi drivers were earlier told not to pick up passengers from the area near the Stachus, also known as Karlsplatz.

Reports of a second shooting in this area have now been described as a false alarm, German newspaper Die Welt said.

Police say they do not know where the shooters are: 'Look after yourselves and continue to avoid public places,' another tweet from German police said.

A Munich police spokeswoman said multiple people were killed or wounded, Reuters news agency reported.

'We believe we are dealing with a shooting rampage,' the spokeswoman said.

Munich's Sueddeutsche Zeitung paper says city's transit system has shut down following the shooting.
