What links Kashmiri militants with Ireland, Spanish Basque and Quebec

Unhappy militants are usually unhappy in the same way. What connects, for example, the Northern Irish and the Basque Spanish, of the past, with today's Kashmiris and Palestinians is that they would rather crawl on broken glass than give up their activism. 

This happens when resistance becomes an integral aspect of culture and an identity badge, as it, unfortunately, has in Kashmir. It is no longer a political weapon but, as "culture", it throbs like a heart.

The way out is to drop the assumption of Kashmir's "exceptionalism" and learn from the Irish, the Basques and the Quebecois.
