Bomb squad blows up suspicious package found in truck outside Nice

A bomb squad was summoned to check out a truck on a road outside Nice and blew up a suspicious package found inside, French media report.

The Volvo was parked at Route de Turin, right outside Nice, according to Nice Matin newspaper. Two building were immediately evacuated.

The resort city in the south of France has been on high alert since at least 84 people were killed when a truck plowed through a crowd during Bastille Day celebrations. Weapons and grenades were found in the vehicle following the rampage.

The truck driver was eventually killed by police. French local media has identified him as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. It was reported earlier that he was a 31-year-old French national who was born in Tunisia.
