IMD issues heavy rain alert for Uttarakhand

The MeT department has issued a heavy rain alert for several districts of Uttarakhand asking chardham yatris to be watchful during the 72-hour period beginning today evening.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places especially in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand during next 72 hours starting on the evening of July 14, the MeT department warning said.

In view of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand during the period, people in general and chardham yatris are advised to remain vigilant, it said. 

The famous Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are located in Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts of Uttarakhand which are likely to be lashed by a heavy downpour during the 72-hour period beginning tomorrow evening.
