Cop killed in Kashmir as mob pushes vehicle into river

A mob pushed a police vehicle into the river Jhelum, leading to the death of a cop today. The incident occurred near Anantnag in Kashmir. The area has been on tenterhooks ever since the death of the Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on Friday.

Soon after his death, people came out on the streets to protest, leading to stone pelting and lathi charge from security forces. The situation took an ugly turn and very soon, the protests turned deadly, killing 16 people over the last two days.
