Swathi case accused P Ramkumar, who was admitted at Tirunelveli government medical college hospital, has made a preliminary confessional statement to the police that the victim had verbally abused him about his physical appearance which enraged him.

P Ramkumar, who was picked up from his house in Meenakshipuram village in Sengottai in a late night operation, attempted to end his life. He was taken to the government hospital after being given first-aid. He later underwent surgery at the hospital.

Police sources said that the accused is not a complete stranger to the victim. The two had exchanged chats on social networking sites and were in possession of each other's phone numbers. "Though she was a friend on the social networking site, she did not encourage him and did not respond to his comments. Ramkumar tracked her activities and kept stalking her on Facebook and later came to Choolaimedu," said a senior police official.
