Riot victim gang-raped in Muzaffarnagar

A 14-year-old girl, who was rehabilitated along with her family after the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, was allegedly gang-raped by three youths at Ambeta village in the district.

Circle officer N P Singh today said that police has registered a case under various sections of the IPC including 376 (d) (rape by one or more persons constituting a group) against one Zulfam, son of former Gram Pradhan Zaheer, and two unidentified youths who are absconding. According to a complaint lodged by the victim's brother, the girl had gone to the fields yesterday and when she was returning home, three youths picked her up and allegedly gang-raped her.

The girl was later found in an unconscious state. The victim's family members were allegedly beaten up by the accused when they protested over the incident.
