Cop-turned-smuggler Ranjit Singh sent to police custody in Amritsar

An Amritsar Court on Saturday sent wanted cop-turned-smuggler Ranjit Singh, who was arrested by joint forces of Border Security Force and Punjab police yesterday, to five days police custody

.The breakthrough came after the Border Security Force and the Punjab Police launched a joint operation to nab the smuggler, who had been declared most wanted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in connection with smuggling of 45 kilograms of heroin three years ago.

Singh, who was on the run for over three years, was nabbed near the border where he had come to coordinate with the smugglers.
