President's Rule has been imposed in Arunachal Pradesh after Dr Pranab Mukherjee gave assent to the proposal on Tuesday.

The decision comes even as the Congress' plea against the recommendation of President's Rule in the state is pending before the Supreme Court, hearing on which will be conducted tomorrow.

However, with this decision, central rule will be imposed in the state with immediate effect and the governor will take over the administration.

Dr Mukherjee had earlier asked the Centre to explain why there is a need to impose President's Rule in the state and the latter cited deteriorating law and order as the reason for recommendation.
