Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday told Tamil Nadu Congress leaders to contest all 234 assembly seats alone instead of tagging along with the DMK. Congress leaders P Chidambaram and EVKS Elangovan are not on the same page on this alliance, but the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee will meet in early February to take stock of local issues. If insiders are to be believed Rahul Gandhi is not yet convinced that TNCC should have an electoral pact with the DMK. Interestingly, Rahul also asked the TNCC leaders about how reliabile and trustworthy DMDK's Vijaykant was. Even in the event of Vijaykant and Karunanidhi getting closer, Rahul felt that Congress should increase its voter base and get more foot soldiers before forging an alliance with the DMK.
