1000 farmers committed suicide in Maharashtra in 2015: Govt

The Maharashtra Govt says in the Bombay High Court that 1000 farmers committed suicide in 2015. The court had earlier issued a notice to the govt to file an affidavit. Details awaited.

However, according to media reports in just 10 months last year, around 2,590 farmers across Mahrashtra committed suicide in the months from January to October the highest number of suicides since 2001.
