Our sources tell us that Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi was surprised to hear from the renowned playback singer SP Balsubramanian, who called him to talk about the renditions of the Swachh Bharat songs.

SP or Balu as the Padma Bhushan awardee is better known, is one of the many nominations as Swachh Bharat ambassador. But the singer took the nomination seriously and instead of a photo-op with a broom, sang a song in Telugu promoting the Clean India campaign and offered to record it in other Indian languages.

The song will now be recorded in eight languages in two months and will then be telecast on all TV channels.

The PM announced this at a felicitation ceremony for SP where union minister M Venakaiah Naidu was also present. (See picture alongside).

This was in recognintion of SP's service to the nation by singing 50,000 for over 50 years.
