Punjab cop Salwinder Singh reaches NIA office for lie test

The National Investigation Agency will subject senior Punjab police officer Salwinder Singh to a lie-detector test today in connection with its probe into Pathankot terror strike.

After the special NIA court allowed it to conduct the polygraph (lie- detector) test on Singh, the officials of the central terror investigation agency briefed CFSL experts CFSL about the possible questions that he can be asked.

Singh, currently posted as Assistant Commandant of 75th Punjab Armed Police, had claimed he was kidnapped by suspected JeM terrorists hours before they attacked the Pathankot Indian Airforce Station in the wee hours of January 2. He was travelling with his jeweller friend Rajesh Verma and cook Madan Gopal when the alleged abduction took place.

The terrorists had slit Verma's throat, almost killing him, and set Singh and Gopal free before fleeing in the police officer's vehicle towards the IAF base.

Some alleged inconsistencies in Singh's statements has prompted the agency to subject him to polygraph test.

Meanwhile, the NIA has failed to have a clear view of the faces of the six terrorists involved in the attack.
