A Mumbai court grants permission to the CBI to interrogate gangster Chhota Rajan for 10 days in connection with the J Dey murder case.

Rajan was produced before special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court last week via video conferencing.

Judge A L Pansare asked Rajan to spell out his name and he said, My name is Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje. Then the Judge explained the entire J Dey case to him in Marathi and that he was being taken into judicial custody and that the charges against him will be framed on January 19. Rajan told the court he needed time to appoint a lawyer to appear for him in the court.

The judge reprimanded the Mumbai Police for not serving the copy of the chargesheet to Rajan and passed an order directing them to do so. The 54-year-old gangster is facing 71 cases in Maharashtra.
