Kiku Sharda of Comedy Nights gets 14 days jail for mocking Ram Rahim

Comedian Kiku Sharda, popular as Palak of "Comedy Nights With Kapil", has been booked for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of the followers of self-claimed godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. Singh's followers filed a case against the comedian after he mimicked the self-claimed godman in popular show "Comedy Night With Kapil", which was aired on 27 December. The case was filed on 1 January but the actor was arrested this morning.

Sharda who was sent to has been sent to 14 days judicial custody in Kaithal, Haryana, apologised while explaining his stand. "Usually if some objectionable word is said while performing, it's edited by the channel. This is also channel's responsibility. I am really very very sorry. I'm an artist who is given a role, a get up and told what to do. I've already apologised, I didn't want to hurt anyone's sentiments."
