Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley holds a pre-budget meeting with economists begins. At the meeting are RBI chief Raghuram Rajan, secretary of department of economic affairs Shaktikanta Das and chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian. The finance ministry is also set to meet banks & financial institutions on January 15.

The finance ministry yesterday attributed the decline in November industrial production to a four-year low to statistical reasons, particularly due to lesser number of working days due to Diwali and the impact of Chennai floods.
