The Congress will bring in total prohibition if elected to power in the coming state assembly polls, TNCC president E V K S Elangovan has said. At a public meeting at Gobichettipalayam near Eroed last night, Elangovan promised the gathering that if Congress formed the government in Tamil Nadu, it would bring in total prohibition besides free education from kindergarten to postgraduate level.

Party spokesperson Kushbhoo said the election was crucial to all parties and claimed the Congress would form the government in the state. Both leaders slammed the state government over its handling of the flood situation during the heavy rains in early December.

They also flayed the functioning of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, claiming that there was no development during its 19-month rule.
