It's a question women want answered.

The Supreme Court today asked why cannot women should not be allowed to enter the Lord Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala, a prominent Hindu pilgrim centre in Kerala. The court said women cannot be denied entry into the temple as long as the Constitution permits it to do so.

The court also asked the Kerala government to submit an affidavit in the case and has aksed the Tranvacore Devaswom Board which manages the Sabarimala temple to make its stance clear on the issue.

The court was considering a petition file by the Indian Young Lawyers Association.

In an earlier decision, the Kerala HC has upheld the ban on women.

The SC will consider the case later. Taditionally women aged between 10 and 50 are not permitted.
