Rs 10000 pm scholarship for 1009-run-wonder Dhanawade

Life's looking up for this world record holder. The Mumbai Cricket Association announces a scholarship of Rs 10,000 per month to Pranav Dhanawade for scoring world record 1009 runs in a single innings. Scholarship will be paid for period of 5 yrs from Jan 2016 to Dec 2021. MCA to monitor both cricket and academics.

Dhanawade, a school cricketer from Kalyan, on the outskirts of Mumbai, scripted history by becoming the first batsman to score more than 1,000 runs in an innings.

The 15-year-old reached the landmark off only 323 balls in a local schools' tournament.

His epic innings was laced with 59 towering sixes and 129 fours, and he offered the opposition just four chances en route.

Dhanawade was representing Smt. KC Gandhi School (Kalyan) against Arya Gurukul School in the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school cricket tournament, organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association.

He was unbeaten on 1,009 when his team declared their innings at 1,465 for three.
