Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi is briefing the media on Pathankot terror attack:
* Due to active intelligence inputs & advance information, security forces, especially the Air Force, we have been able to ensure that there have been no damage to IAF assets.
* The main aim of terrorists stands defeated.
* On January 1, an Innova car was found along with driver whose throat was slit. After this an alert was sounded and all vital installations were alerted to a terror attack.
* Due to surveillance and alert they were unable to move to the technical area -- their target. They were contained in a non-operational area and surrounded and combing operations were started
* Last night, the firing stopped and therefore we were not sure if all terrorists killed or not. When combing started in morning, we did find atleast two more terrorists & they are being engaged. We are hopeful that they will also be neutralised by evening.
* Air Force lost 6 security personnel of the air force and eight injured personnel.
* NSG lost Lt Col Niranjan and has 12 injuries so far.
* Between August and December almost 40 terrorists have been neutralized based on Intelligence Bureau inputs.
Air Marshal Anil Khosla, Director General Air Operations at Air Headquarters, says:
* The operation never stopped, the operation is not completed yet.
* The operation is at a mature state but confirmation on the number of casualties only after recovering bodies
* All airfields were on alert after the intel was received.
* Coordination was done between all agencies.
* All aerial assets were employed in the operation.
