Jat stir: Haryana Legal Services Authority sets up help desks

Haryana Legal Services Authority today set up help desks in its offices across the state to facilitate victims of the Jat quota agitation who suffered sexual harassment, loss of property or failed to get insurance compensation.

The victims may approach these help desks for free legal services which have been set up pursuant to order passed by the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, a spokesman of State Legal Services Authority said.

"In case anyone has been subjected to sexual assault by the arsonists or protesters at any place in the state, the person can submit a complaint in a sealed envelope to the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, of the district concerned either in person or through some relative or even by post or e-mail," he said.

The official will then immediately forward the application to the police authorities for investigation and thereafter, pursue the matter with them, he said, adding the identity of the victim will not be revealed.
