Pressure is mounting on the five Jawaharlal Nehru University students -- Umar Khalid, Anant Prakash Narayan, Ashutosh Kumar, Rama Naga and Anirban Bhattacharya -- to surrender before the Delhi police enters the campus by 3 pm today.

Commissioner B S Bassi is monitoring the negotiations between the deputy commissioner of police and the vice chancellor and JNU students, with constant wireless messages being  exchanged between him and the DCP who is stationed at the JNU main gate.

Once the five students are either arrested or surrender, a special investigating team with representatives from the Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing, National Investigation Agency and the Jammu and Kashmir police will interrogate each of them separately.

JNU students are said to be very concerned about the SIT's tactics, and want a solemn commitment that the five students will not be intimidated in any manner.
