Parliament's budget session kicks off tomorrow with President Pranab Mukherjee's joint address to members, but the 49 MPs from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won't be attending it.

Reason: tomorrow is also their Puratchi Thalaivi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha's 68th birthday. Given her larger-than-life role in Tamil Nadu and in their lives, the AIADMK MPs want to be present in Chennai's Poes Garden when Jayalalitha will grant a darshan and thank the public for their adulation.

According to the Tamil calendar, her birthday falls today and the chief minister spent the day by celebrating it quietly at home, offering puja to Lord Hanuman and Lord Ranganathar, the deity of Srirangam temple.

Incidentally, Srirangam is also Jayalalitha's assembly constituency from where she has won two elections so far.

Will this year see her third win from the temple town?
