Talking to Rediff.com, Prasoon Joshi said: 'I was actually shocked by the nature of the sloganeering. We must always introspect and examine where we are heading towards but hearing extreme anti-national slogans so vehemently is disturbing.

'Such things derail us from constructive debates. Students are the wealth of our country and dissents, debates, different points of view are the lifeblood of a democratically alive society. Doing this in a manner that the integrity of the nation is maintained should be the responsibility of each student and each citizen.

'I am positive that the students too see this and there'll be a meaningful dialogue soon.

'I would never equate students with terrorists and absolutely respect the right to dissent.'
