Jat protests: Parrikar asks army chief to deal strictly with protesters

Situation in Haryana continues to be grim as the Jat protests have entered the fourth day. Violence continues in different parts of the state, particularly in Rohtak and Jind. Thirty-three army units have been deployed in 9 districts of Haryana along with 10 company of paramilitary forces. However, in spite of the curfew, violence has not ceased. 

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar met Army Chief General Dalbir Suhag in Delhi and directed him to deal strictly with the Jat protesters. Parrikar has asked the army chief to bring situation under control in Haryana by tonight. The  minister asked Suhag to ensure that all major highways in the troubled state are cleared of protesters as soon as possible.
