Siachen survivor's condition deteriorates, says hospital

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa's condition deteriorates, despite aggressive therapy, says a fresh medical bulletin from Army R&R Hospital. There's  evidence of pneumonia in his lungs. 

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad -- the Army jawan who is battling for life after he survived being snowed in 30 feet below the surface for six days in Siachen, remains critical even as his condition is being monitored continuously.

Koppad is still dependent on a ventilator. "The medical team treating him at the RR hospital is monitoring his situation continuously and is treating him with best expertise and resources available in the world," the statement said.

Earlier today, the braveheart's family visited him at the Army Hospital Research and Referral here. Army Chief General Dalbir Singh also checked up on Koppad at the hospital today.
