Tamil Nadu government today announced Rs 10 lakh each to the families of four army jawans from the state killed in the avalanche in Siachen.

Announcing the relief, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a statement here expressed grief over the death of Havildar M Elumalai of Vellore, Havildar S Kumar of Theni, Sepoy G Ganesan from Madurai and Sepoy N Ramamurthy from Krishnagiri district and conveyed her sympathies their families.

'I was grieved to know that four soldiers from Tamil Nadu who were involved in guarding the nation were killed in the avalanche,' she said in a statement.   Jayalalithaa said she had ordered granting a sum of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
