Encounter in Kashmir's Pulwama district

A fierce gunfight between militants and security forces is on in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. A senior police officer said troops of counter insurgency, Rashtriya Rifles and special operations groupof the state police jointly surrounded Gondipora village in Pulwama district this afternoon on specific information about presence of militants in the village.

"An encounter is on in the village. More reinforcements have been rushed to the area which has been surrounded by the security forces," the officer said. Senior army and police officers have rushed to the area.
