Playback singer Sonu Nigam reacts to the news that the crew on the Jet Airways flight he was on was suspended for allowing him to entertain passengers with a couple of ditties.

"To suspend crew for asking me to sing on the address system, when the seat belt signs were off, and no announcements were to be made is nothing less than punishing someone for spreading happiness. Pity there's no one to question such harshness except media perhaps. Indians, need to loosen up. This act of lack of common sense, according to me, is the real intolerance," Nigam said.

Jet Airways suspended their crew for allowing Nigam to sing from the aircraft's address system during a flight.  On January 4, passengers on a Jet Airways chartered plane requested Nigam to sing for them. Nigam obliged and sang two popular songs from flight's address system.

However, this did not go down too well with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, after the video of Nigam's mid-air concert was posted by some passengers on social media.

The regulator investigated the incident and asked the airline to suspend the airhostesses on board.

Jet has also been asked to ensure that such "misuse" of the in-flight announcement system is not allowed in future.

The Jet Airways said in its statement that the flight announcement system was allegedly misused and a corrective training to reinforce strict adherence to operating procedure would be given to the plane's staff.
