All eyes on Kapu Garjana

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi today reviewed the Kapu Garjana agitation at a high-level meeting of officials.

The Kapu community has been demanding inclusion of Kapus in the BC list as promised by the Telugu Desam Party in the 2014 elections. The community organised 'Kapu Ikya Garjana' in East Godavari to fight for their demands, which turned violent after railway bogies were burnt and traffic halted.

The Centre may send an official delegation to assess the damage and a clear picture will emerge once Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is briefed and a direction is given to officials.
