Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not lifting cash curbs after the 50-day demonetisation deadline, the Congress on Saturday said many questions were left unanswered by the PM in his address to the nation.

"Modi ji's 'shuddhi yagna' took sacrifice of 125 people, but he did not even mention this in his address. We're disappointed with the PM's speech. Many questions were left unanswered by him on a decision that paralysed the country's economy," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.

Taking a swipe at the PM for not announcing a deadline for lifting cash curbs and bringing normalcy to the banking system, he said, "No deadline, only headline this is the PM's approach nowadays."

"We once again urge the PM to withdraw the restrictions imposed on withdrawals," Surjewala said.

He said the PM's address to the nation seemed like a 'Budget Address'. "PM just took over the post of finance minister and made pre- Budget speech," he said. -- ANI
