As supporters protest, Akhilesh appeals for restraint

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's supporters have been staging protests in Lucknow over his expulsion from the Samajwadi Party.

Most of the anger seems to be directed at Shivpal Yadav.

Meanwhile, as the crowd outside Akhilesh's residence grew restive, the chief minister sent a message through one of his loyalist MLAs that they should exercise restraint.

Akhilesh said he would meet the party legislators on Saturday at 9:30am. He also said he would be available for party workers, leaders and his supporters at noon.
