Why does the US stop short of imagining a female president?

This year's presidential poll in the United States of America was the closest fought contest since the one between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon in 1960. Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party candidate, was ahead of the surprise Republican nominee, Donald Trump, in terms of popular votes. The country's Constitution, however, lays it down that it is the state-wise electoral votes that matter for deciding the president-elect. In this count, Trump edged out Hillary. The more obdurate among Hillary's fans were unreconciled and demanded a recount in those states where the voting was very close. As expected, they drew a blank and Trump, currently busy choosing his White House team, will be sworn in as president in the third week of January.
