Cyclone Vardah: SriLankan Airlines cancels all flights to Chennai

SriLankan Airlines today said all its Chennai-bound flights were cancelled till Tuesday morning after authorities issued a red alert due to severe cyclonic storm Vardah which made a landfall in Tamil Nadu.
Airlines Spokesman Deepal Perera said, "There has been a red alert issued. Therefore all flights to Chennai will resume only on Tuesday morning."
Some Chennai-bound passenger flights were diverted to Colombo owing to a storm.
A Srilankan Airlines flight on its way to Chennai returned to Katunayake while a flight heading to Chennai from Dubai also landed in Katunayake this morning, the Colombo Gazette reported.
