A complaint was lodged with Pune police on Tuesday against music composer Vishal Dadlani for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of Jain community through their tweets on noted monk Tarun Sagar.

A lawyer, Sehul Shah, 28, lodged the complaint with Bundgarden police station alleging that the tweets posted by Dadlani and one Tehseen Poonawala on Twitter about monk Tarun Sagar had offended Jains.

Similar cases were registered against the duo in various parts of the country.

They had tweeted about Sagar, a Digambar sect monk who appears nude, who had delivered an address in Haryana Assembly last week.

"The tweets by Dadlani and Poonawala have hurt the sentiments of Jain community and as the act was done with a motive to hurt the religious sentiments of the community, I lodged a complaint against them," said Shah.

A station duty officer at the police station said they have registered the case under Section 295 (A) (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code.
