B'desh SC upholds death sentence of top Jamaat leader over 1971 war crimes

Bangladesh's highest court today upheld the death sentence for top Islamist tycoon Mir Quasem Ali.

Mir Quasem was found guilty of committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War by the International Crimes Tribunal and was sentenced to death in 2014.

He had challenged the verdict, but in March this year, the Supreme Court confirmed the death sentence.
