Centre to J&K CM: Restore peace in the Valley

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has told Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti to take concrete steps to control the law and order situation in the Valley, CNN-News18 has reported.

Sources said that Singh has conveyed to Mufti that law and order is a state subject and the government have to take the lead in restoring the rule of law.

As many as 66 persons, including two police personnel, have been killed and several thousand others injured in the clashes that began on July 9, a day after Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kokernag area of south Kashmir s Anantnag district.
