Shuttler PV Sindhu's Silver at the Rio Olympics lifted India's spirits as the nation erupted in joy at the 21-year-old's historic feat on Friday.

World number 10 Sindhu settled for silver after being beaten 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 by Carolina Marin of Spain.

Former captain of the cricket team Kapil Dev was ecstatic about the win and tweeted, "Let's name a storm after Sindhu. PV Sindhu means glory. This silver is worth a 1000 golds. Whole India is proud of you."
