Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara gave a clean chit to Amnesty International in the sedition case, saying he does not believe Amnesty did anything wrong.

The city police commissioner also stated that there was 'no substantial evidence to proceed against Amnesty on sedition charges'.

An FIR, including Sec 124 A (sedition), was filed against the NGO following a complaint by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad alleging that 'anti-national comments' were made at an event organised to highlight human rights violations by security forces in the Kashmir valley.

On Friday, police used lathis to disperse ABVP activists when they attempted to barge into AAI headquarters in Indiranagar. The police have cautioned the CM that the ABVP agitation could lead to law-and-order problems not just in Bengaluru but across the State, said a senior officer.
