'Whatever I said earlier, I want to put it behind me': De on her Olympic tweet

Ever since she tweeted about India's poor performance at the Rio Olympics, Shobhaa De has been trolled time and time again. However, today trying to put the issue to rest, the author said, "Whatever I said earlier, I want to put it behind me."

Shobhaa had created a huge controversy when she tweeted, "Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity."

She was quickly criticised by the Twitterati and sportspersons alike, including Olympian Abhinav Bindra, for her comments.

Following wrestler Sakshi Malik's scintillating win, Virender Sehwag and superstar Amitabh Bachchan also took a swipe at the author for her previous tweet.
