Who are the 8 new nominees to the Rajya Sabha?

Presidential nominations for the eight vacancies in the Rajya Sabha are likely to be released in the next 24 hours.

According to Article 80 (3) of the Constitution, the President may nominate as members those who have special knowledge or practical experience in literature, science, art, and social service.

New Delhi's political circles are agog with speculation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the eight names, and the same has been sent to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Sources say congratulatory calls have already been received by an eminent owner-editor of a Hindi TV channel.
