IIT team probing Kolkata's collapsed flyover finds materials substandard

Poor quality of materials is one of the key reasons behind the collapse of the Vivekananda Road flyover, according to a preliminary report by two professors from IIT Kharagpur. The initial finding adds an alarming dimension to the tragedy that claimed 26 lives on March 31 and highlighted the danger of syndicates supplying substandard materials.


The revelation also raises questions about the durability of other flyovers and similar infrastructure in the city.  Read more
