The Centre today faced a furious Supreme Court as its lawyer arrived 15 minutes late to a hearing on drought. "Show some seriousness," the judges admonished the government.

NDTV reports that the judges lost their temper after the Centre asked for more time to file a response, as they waited for the Additional Solicitor General to arrive in court for the hearing on drought.

Yesterday, the court had given the Centre time till today to explain its performance in drought relief. "Is this like cattle or something? Go here, go there. This is not your priority? Are we useless people? Two judges are sitting here. You expect us to do nothing and just keep looking at the watch waiting for time to pass?" the judges questioned.

The court is hearing former Aam Aadmi Party leader Yogendra Yadav's petition seeking relief for farmers of drought hit states.
