The human resource development ministry will be sending a two-member fact-finding team to National Institute of Technology Srinagar on Wednesday to assess the law and order situation following unrest in the campus, J&K deputy CM Nirmal Singh said.

Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh also said that the HRD ministry will look into the matter.

"I spoke to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as well. The Union home minister has constantly been in touch with the CM. The HRD ministry is sending a team. Force needn't be used against students," he said.

He also asked students to maintain peace, 'otherwise external elements come in to gain political mileage'.

Meanwhile, according to a CNN-IBN report, the non-Kashmiri students have list out several demands, including hoisting of national flag '" along with the state flag -- on the campus and protection from miscreants who 'often pelt stones at non-Kashmiri students'.

At least four non-Kashmiri students sustained injuries in a police lathi-charge at NIT Srinagar on Tuesday. Two companies of CRPF had to be called in to maintain calm after trouble broke out again.
