Mehbooba assured me NIT students are safe, says HRD minister

Education Minister Smriti Irani said today that she spoke to J-K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti who assured her that the students are safe at NIT Srinagar. "I have spoken to 400 students, helping with arrangements for those who want to go home," she tweeted.

The minister said she would ensure that no student of the National Institute of Technology faced injustice. Paramilitary forces have been stationed after students clashed with the police on Tuesday evening.

Two top officials of the education ministry are visiting the institute today.
