Intense lobbying has begun with speculation about a possible Union Cabinet reshuffle.

An auspicious day is being chosen between May 11 and 19, or a day before the five assembly poll results which will be announced on May 19. And so began a laborious exercise in the PMO and a rethink for master strategist and BJP president Amit Shah.

A senior BJP leader who is privy to
sensitive information says Bihar will be a major loser.

The reshuffle will focus on Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab with at least eight new faces expected from these three states. This means four or five ministers from Bihar will be dropped.

Modi has been meeting junior ministers
frequently to gauge their performance and what is being heard is that only a few ministers may be elevated to Cabinet status.
