US: Amtrak lead engine derails after crash near Philadelphia, several injured

An Amtrak train struck a piece of construction equipment just south of Philadelphia on Sunday causing a derailment, and some injuries are being reported, according to authorities. Service on the Northeast Corridor between New York and Philadelphia has been suspended. 

The impact derailed the lead engine of the train. About 341 passengers and seven crew members were on board. Amtrak said initial reports show that some passengers were being treated for injuries, but officials didn't immediately have any information on the number or extent of injuries.
