Overlooked diplomats upset over MEA reshuffle

Resentment is reportedly brewing in the corridors of the ministry of external affairs over the elevation of Syed Akbaruddin, a fine diplomat, as India's permanent representative in the United Nations.

Insiders confirm that there are 38 diplomats in senior positions who have been overlooked while promoting Akbaruddin, additional secretary in the MEA who as spokesperson had endeared himself to the press corps.

A few of the disgruntled diplomats are planning to seek an appointment with their minister Sushma Swaraj and then with the prime minister to voice their angst.
