Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a special summit with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. The four leaders form what is known as the G-4 group - countries which back each other's bid for permanent seats at the UN Security Council. Speaking at the summit, Modi firstly welcomed all of the leaders after a break of 10 years. The PM said, "Climate change and terrorism are new concerns, cyber and space new frontiers of our opportunities and challenges. At such a juncture, the reform of the Security Council within a fixed time has become an important task."

Pushing for a permanent seat at the UNSC, Modi said, "The Security Council must include the world's largest democracy. I am sure that this meeting today will give impetus for our efforts in this direction."
